dwvk@iup.edu Hello Everyone, I am an international student from North Cyprus. I graduated from IUP in May 2006 with degrees in Political Science and Economics. Currently I am pursuing a master’s degree in Public Affairs/International Development Studies, in the hopes that it will eventually set me on the path to becoming a diplomat for North Cyprus. Some of my hobbies include tennis, playing the piano and dancing. I am also interested about discovering more about international students and their respective nations. I believe that as an increasingly diverse yet commingling world, it is everyone’s responsibility to harbor such an interest. As the Chair of Publications, I look forward to reading and editing articles that are submitted by students as well as keeping them informed or entertained through some of my own articles. The articles can be virtually about anything. They can help Americans as well as Internationals exchange and understand cultural perspectives through written words. Students are therefore, strongly encouraged to come forward with their thoughts on paper. Haider, Donna and I will do everything possible to assist you with ideas for articles. Hey everyone!! My name is Donna Awad. I am an Arab-American, and my parents are originally from Syria. I grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and am currently here at IUP studying Biology. Upon graduating, my plans of going onto Graduate or Medical School will hopefully be fulfilled. I will go wherever God takes me! I love to meet new people and learn about different cultures. In my spare time, I enjoy spending hours upon hours with family. They are my motivation to be here and do what I do! I also enjoy reading and taking pictures. As Vice Chair of the Publications Committee, I hope to get the word out about the different cultures and upbringing of international students who are here with us at IUP. Along with Suna, I urge you to not be shy. If you have anything you would like to contribute… please let us know and we could help get your thoughts into the school newsletter.
