Social Events Committee

Dikesh Patel
Chair, Social Events

(Spring 2007)

Greetings!

As the Chair of Social Events, my main goal is to provide all possible assistance to the entire committee. We are looking forward to build this association into an international hub whereby every international student gets to meet and interact with fellow international students. Our main goal is to promote cultural diversity. I am looking forward to organize some fun activities for fellow members of the club. We are currently planning our major event of the semester, the Halloween Party. Enver and I are hoping to make every event a success!

I am an undergraduate student from Malaysia majoring in International Business and Finance. I am a frequent traveler and love photography. One other thing I enjoy most is ideology, philosophy and writing. I have a huge collection of my personal writing. I am no extraordinary person, I just live my life as it comes by.

Greetings!

As the interim chair for the Social Events committee, I must say I am eagerly looking forward to organizing and bringing to reality cultural and social events. We aim to promote a sense of unity through these events so that international students can get to know more about each others’ cultures and of course, the American culture in general. A good case in point would be our planned Halloween event. In an age where cultural information can be accessed through the World Wide Web, there is nothing quite like actually participating and experiencing different cultural events by oneself. We hope each of you will be able to take something away from these experiences for personal growth.

Originally, I hail from Bangladesh, but immigrated to the United States of America in 2000. I graduated in May of 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance. Currently I am enrolled in the MBA program, which I will be completing by this December. My academic areas of interest include investment banking, stock markets, economic trends and world news. On a more personal level, I like nothing better than sitting with my sketchbook practicing my amateur art skills.
